The plasterboard is now up on the wall between the lounge and the passage (on one side, anyway)
and the double bifold doors have been hung.

Hessian

The internal walls of the house is lined with masonite (or brown board). We are slowly removing it all and replacing it with plasterboard. Today we found evidence that before the masonite, the walls were coated with hessian.
The practice used to be to stretch hessian along the walls, and nail it taut every 3-4 inches apart. Most articles I have read say the walls were then whitewashed, but I found an article that shows another method.

Moving on

The weatherboards are up on the shed.

Now back inside the house.
Next step is to put a wall back between passage and lounge.

and prepare the area for the double folding doors

Machinery Shed 4

The bearers have gone in on top of the stumps.

And the joists go on top of the bearers.
(Do you like all my builder jargon?!)

Not long now, and we'll have a floor !!

Rebecca

Our eldest daughter Rebecca came to visit, and found herself in the mood to work.
Here she is transporting a load of firewood to the house.

Fungi

We have a colony of Amanita muscari, or as they are more commonly known, Fly Agaric, toadstools growing in a symbiotic relationship with our silver birch trees.
Pretty to look at, but poisonous, and psychoactive (ie contains a chemical substance that affects the brain functioning, causing changes in behaviour, mood and conciousness).
Probably explains "Alice in Wonderland's" dreams !!

Concrete

Today we had a delivery of concrete.

The bulk of it was wheelbarrowed into the 40 holes Robert had dug.
Another 3 loads went into the hole in the bathroom, that will be the base of the DOUBLE shower.

Any that was left over was used to spread around the foundations,
to plug any holes that rodents could be using to get into the house.
