Parlour Fireplace

 

The fireplace wall has been painted.

 

 

The electricians have attached the heritage switches,

and reconnected the power.

 

 

The brickwork around the firebox has been

rendered and painted

and mantlepiece re-attached.

(Please excuse the mess!)

 

Progress is slowly being made.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Parlor painted

The picture rails have been installed, and painted white.

 

 

Then the walls below the picture rail were painted "Peahen".

For those who want to be exact, it's 50% Dulux Peahen in a white base.

 

 

Anaglypta

Next step is to put the Anaglypta wallpaper on the fireplace surround.

 

 

Wallpaper paste on the backs of the paper.

 

This is the wallpaper design - a damask.

Anaglypta is a paintable wallpaper, with a raised pattern.

Once the room is painted, the area around the fireplace will look textured.

Office

 

 

Painting in the office has begun !!

 

 

The colour is Dulux Limed White.

 

 

 

Lounge & Office

Doug has come to visit - so more work is being done !

 

First, the lounge (or "parlor")

 

 

 

 

The walls have been insulated, and plasterboard attached.

It's warmer in there now !

 

Now, the office.

 

 

 

 

Don't try this at home, kiddies.

 It's not pavlova batter - it's cornice cement !!

Good job, boys.

Can't wait to get colour on the walls now.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lounge room

The walls have started to come off in the lounge room.

The outer layer was masonite (brown board) and under that was wall sisalation.

 

 

Our helper is Michael, our daughter Bec's friend.

They are visiting - so got them to help!

 

Under the sisalation near the window to the right, was found  . . .

a sample of the original wallpaper,

attached directly to hessian backing!

Would date back to 1890-1910.

 

The electricians came in after the walls were off,

and put new wiring down for extra powerpoints.

Then Robert put insulation in between the studs.

 

 

The brown insulation to the right, is 100% wool.

Next step - plasterboard - when Doug comes on holidays !!
