We have a colony of Amanita muscari, or as they are more commonly known, Fly Agaric, toadstools growing in a symbiotic relationship with our silver birch trees.
Pretty to look at, but poisonous, and psychoactive (ie contains a chemical substance that affects the brain functioning, causing changes in behaviour, mood and conciousness).
Probably explains "Alice in Wonderland's" dreams !!
